Down But Not Lost

This week was just easy but ironically a depressing one.

Last Monday, we were supposed to have a new lesson instead Mam gave us an activity to answer because she is busy checking our quite difficult previous quiz.

The activity is about drawing an arch bridge in which its ends are 20m apart. Then, we are asked to make problems about the illustration involving tangent and secant segments.

I believe that the bridge I had drawn was correct and I hope that the problems I constructed were difficult enough, for me to have a perfect score based on rubric given.

Tuesday was the big day. It is the day when our last quiz papers were given. I didn't expect to have a high score because I flopped in number 9 which is 25 points in total. I knew I would get a low grade and there it is. When my name was called, I tremblingly accepted my paper and the moment I had a glance on my score I became sad. When I was currently reviewing in the numbers I got wrong. I was depressed even more when I saw I was wrong in number 2 which is a piece of cake question. The question asks if a radius is a chord and I obviously knew it's not but I idiotly answered it was. So I only got 54 out of 80. Seriously am I really even a star section student?=(

But I won't let that score let me down. The next quiz, I will make sure I will have a comeback and prove that I can do better.=)

After that, we had a new lesson which is about Plane Geometry. The lesson comprises of 2 topics specifically the Distance and Midpoint Formula. It was just very easy and I effortlessly understood it very well.

The next day, we had a new lesson again which is about the General and Standard Form of the Equation of a Circle. It was just easy if you master your polynomials specifically the completing the square method. And I the whole class understood it well because we are all attentively paricipating and answering every question that were thrown to us.

Then Thursday, we should have a quiz about the last 2 lessons but it was cancelled because of the consideration of Mam Nicole for we have 3 quizzes that day. But it turned out that the classes was also postponed because of the super typhoon Lawin and I hope that all the people especially from the Northern Luzon that were devastated by the typhoon were able to secure themselves and find refuge among their homes. I also pray for the people that lost their homes and love ones due to the wrath of the super typhoon. I felt compassion for your lost guys.=)

On the last day of the week, we had again a game but not math related and I thought it's about cards because mam had brought a deck of cards in our room.

First, we are asked to bring out a one half lengthwise paper then we are tasked to write our name on it. After that every paper moved to a person at our right and we are all asked to write the birthdate of that person on their paper. Then the paper moved again but this time twice to our right then we are all asked again to write the how many and who are the siblings of the owner of the paper have.

Basically, the activity was to test how much we really knew our classmates. Only few of us have many correct their answers papers which means that the whole class know him/her well because she is very open and tells her experiences & stories to the class.

It just sad for me to realize that very few of my classmates really know me well even though almost all of us are co- classmates for 3 straight years. Well that is the truth and I think I will just accept it the way it is.

Stuck In Reverse

This week I was a litte bit depressed with my performance. I was doing perfectly when I practice on my own but when the actual thing happens, I flopped and tilted  because of my damn carelessness. Things that I plan to happen on my own way tends to be the inverse of what I actually wanted.

On the first three days of week, we only had lectures & seatworks about circles for the preparation of our very long quiz the next day. Mam Nicole allowed to write all the formulas involving circles without any consequence to help us in the difficult quiz. She also told us that whoever gets a perfect score in the quiz will be exempted in the next quiz and she/he has the decision to take the quiz that he was exempted at so that when he got a perfect score again, he will be again exempted. What a very nice motivation to study harder!=)

Thursday, we had our very difficult 10 item quiz for 75 minutes. It was supposed to be taken for only 60 minutes but mam was so considerate that she granted us to extend the test for 15 minutes.

I think I answered all the questions correctly except for number 5 because I don't how the illustration looks like but I think I know how to solve it. It's just that I cannot visualize the figure. What a stupid person am I!
=(

There is another idiot thing that I had done which is in number 9. I know in myself that I know that an angle whose vertex is inside the circle is not half of the arc it subtends. But what have I done. Why did I did that? I had a lot of extra time but I didn't realized it until I already passed my paper. What happened to me? Did I lost my mind? I am not that kind of person I used to be before. I very depressed right now that I think I had lost my passion on the subject I loved the most. On the subject that I devoted my whole life to for the hope that this subject will carve my personality and unlock all my potential for the betterment of myself. All I wanna do right now is to reflect on my life. To reflect on what are the reason why these things are happening to me. But how? I hard to find a reason to move forward when you used to repeat the things that hurt you the most. But I hope that things will be better because of my determination and faith on the Lord.

So I think I will get only 10 out of 25 in that number because of my very idiot misconception.

Friday, we had another game just like last week. First, you will draw a paper in the box written in that is a name of your classmate and you will say 3 things about what you think about he/ she was before. In short, you will say your first impressions. Many of us said hilarious, sad and shocking things that wouldn't believe was true.

In the end, this activity taught us that we must first know the person well before we believe on what we think who they are.

Productivity At Its Best

This week had been the busiest yet the most productive one. From the start until the end of the week there had been many school activities like the teacher's day celebration, continuation of our Intrams and DSPC Training.

Meanwhile, we also had been busy inside the classroom for preparing for the unexpected quizzes, seatworks and recitations even though only half of the class is present since the other half is busy having an intensive training for the DSPC.

On the first day of the week was the continuation of our Intrams so we had no classes but this was the day for submission of our math group project so each group have to go to the Math Lab to explain the concept of our final output. After we explained our work, we are individually asked about what grade we think we deserve and gave a reason why. The final verdict was Mam Nicole gave us a 98 out of 100. Yaaay!=)

This day is also allotted for the finals of every game specifically volleyball, basketball and field events. The Yellow Tigers won the volleyball while the Blue Knights won the basketball. After all the games, we all went to the gym to watch the gymnastics and dance sport. Then 10 minutes after the events ended, the final result was announced. The Overall Champion of the Intramurals 2016 with a 22 point deficit against the 2nd place was... (drumrolls) the Green Archers! Whoooo! Congrats to our team specially to Jin and I, the swimmers, who bagged all the gold medals! Whooo!

Then Tuesday was still the continuation of the explanation of our math project as well as the celebration of the Teacher's Day. Every section had surprised their teachers by giving them letters, having a celebration party, singing a song accompanied by a guitar and a beatbox, giving them sweets and flowers or by making a tribute video presentation for them. During the afternoon was the celebration proper held at the gym. Every section or every year level has a representative to sing a song or play an instrument for the teachers. As well as PTA surprised the teachers by giving them gifts based on the number they picked. But that did not ended the celebration. After the presents were given, the whole school together with the teachers and students had a dance battle with each other. The whole school really had so much fun celebrating the very special Teacher's Day.

Then Wednesday, we had no classes because it was Division Level Teacher's Day Celebration.

On the fourth day of the week, Thursday, we had checked the take home seatwork and almost all of us had no units in the first part of the test so we had an automatic 5 points deduction which was very disappointing. And I am very careless in the last part of the test because in number 1  I forgot to write the Pi r2  in the final answer even if there is a Pi r2 in the solution so I only got 1 point. That's just too precious to waste. What an idiot!

We also had a seatwork by pair about inscribed angle & intercepted arc and it was just a piece of cake.

On the last day of the week, we had a game in math. It was called 2 truths and a lie and the game involves saying 2 truths and 1 lie about yourself that others don't know even your friends. The game was started by Mam Nicole and after that she gave a number and whoever has a birthdate on the said number will be the one to speak. All of our answers were hilarious and very funny until we laughed so hard it would sting just like the crazy things you wouldn't expect that we had done.

We all had a difficult time figuring out which one is the truth and which are the lies. At the end of the activity we had learned many things. Mam Nicole told us that everything we see can be deceiving which may lead us to a wrong conclusion  so what we must do is to be very keen, careful and cautious because you will only discover the truth and the true colors of something or someone when you are not around and you are at you're back. She also told us that when you found out that the truth you once believed for a long time was a just a lie, it will be difficult for you to trust that person again because trust is like a mirror, once it's broken, it's never seen again and no matter how hard you try to put it back, the cracks will always show but we also need to take risks because the best way to find out if you can trust somebody is to trust them.

Longest Best Intramurals

This week had been an amazing one for we had no classes on almost every subject because half of the class was training for the upcoming DSPC yet ironically had been also a sad and boring one because we are not complete to have classes in order to learn new things.

Monday. We just recalled our lesson the previous year and slightly introduced a new concept about trigonometry. We had a recap on the 6 trigonometric functions and and a little introduction about quotient and Pythagorean identities. I found the new lesson quite difficult because it was not explained and elaborated. Yet the recap was just easy because I understood the lesson well last year.

Tuesday. We did nothing because Mam Nicole asked us if we wanted to have a lesson or do nothing and we responded to do nothing. It was also earthquake drill during that time so we did not have time to discuss a new topic.

Wednesday. We are given a seatwork about about circles even though we are only 15 students in the class. I think mam nicole made the other section's quiz our seat work because she thinks it was easy and It was really easy. After 30 minutes of answering the quiz, an excuse letter arrived from a MAPEH Club officer saying that every team in the Sportsfest will be excused for the practice of their respective sports and activities regarding the Intramural meet. Then, Mam Nicole made our seatwork to be taken home and be passed on monday. We were all exhilarated about the news because all of us are excited for the Sportsfest.

Thursday was the 1st day of Sportsfest and unexpectedly it rain so hard it flooded the roads so Mayor Rolen lately announced that it was only half day when the almost all the students had already arrived in school. As a result most of the games were cancelled. What a brilliant idea mayor! Bravo!

Friday was the 2nd day of sportsfest and it rained so hard again so the ball games were held at Subic Gym and the Track and Field events were still continued even if it is raining and the Remy Field was wet and slippery. Swimming, my sport, had been fun and exciting because it was raining the swimming pool was as cold as ice as if you will have a hypothermia. Despite, the cold weather, the green archers, my team, did not let the weather be a hindrance to us in achieving victory. Even if Jin and I were the only representative for the swimming boys, we still swam and dived for the gold medal through hardwork and perseverance and  we got it all so the Green Archers were the champion in swimming boys.

Our Sportsfest was not yet finished and it will be continued on monday for the dance sport and the championship match of every game.
